Editing Your Life

Part of my whole ‘being overly organized – efficient’ and being a writer, I constantly edit when I read or write. I do a semi-monthly blog for Sibella Publications – usually one of my future blogs for here – but they are very specific about not more than 475 words. Here, I usually do 550 – 650, but if I have more to say, I can say it. I have also edited books for other writer-friends, as I’m currently doing. Most people overwrite what they have to say, as they usually also do with speaking. Maybe it’s my extensive background with Dale Carnegie, so I do practice being efficiency in my speech, whenever I feel that is important. Say the most with the fewest words. I’ve always felt that simple, straight forward was the most effective way to do things and run my life. I recently read an article how this simplification is quite effective in general life success. It made sense to me, but a fundamental key to to success? Wow, that’s rather amazing.

I never liked ostentatiousness, or the need for a ton of shoes, clothes, jewelry, etc., even when I was making good money. I chose to spend mine on travel into other cultures, or experiencing new restaurants/foods. Likewise, I think many people believe if something is more expensive it is better; they also believe the more complex a process makes it better. If you can be creative with simplicity, then you truly are a genius. Think about it. In reality there is no genius in complexity. Some of the greatest discoveries or breakthroughs came from the simplest forms or ‘accidents.’ It is usually about having awareness, or simply being ‘present’ in your surroundings. But many people fear loss without structure, rules, waiting in lines, extensive directions to accomplish something, and feel most comfortable or even safe, holding on to what they already have or know. A bad past is better than an unknown future, so they stay stuck in it. This security reminds them of their limitations, so those barriers help them openly ignore, or run away from any new opportunity for change.

This is why businesses with stuck-managers (this is the way we’ve always done it) simply achieve incremental improvements, rather than breakthroughs. And, it’s what keeps people from discovering their unique purpose, from seeing a vision of their future, thus creating a life they were truly meant and desire to live. New experiences, or going out on a limb can make most of us feel uneasy, even causing a paralysis within. Yes, it is important for you to maintain the focus and drive it takes to make a dream come true. Success is not an overnight process, it is a life-long progress. Goals change, or evolve and sometimes it feels like you are never going to get “there.” Yet, if you can take just one small step for positive change and see it through to completion, that accomplishment can help you embrace another, and another opportunity to design what you desire your future to be. We all can have access to the unlimited potential of success. The world is waiting for You to rise to the place where You will realize your life’s full potential. Never forget that Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. And, most importantly: You cannot heal what you refuse to first acknowledge. Let your past go, and find your Empowerment!
